ILLUMINATING THE PAST. We have restored this four-manual Wurlitzer console for our client in Australia. The scope of work included “de-nuking” (the removal of contemporary stopaction magnets, associated hardware, and controls); the restoration of the main stopkey motor plate which had been altered; returning wind operated stopkey movements using all vintage Wurlitzer components and tin tubing which we had specially extruded; the restoration of the console case to its 1928 appearance; replating hardware in bright nickel; all braided cable coverings using the late Wurlitzer houndstooth pattern fabricated on our 90-year old New England Butt Co. Machine; a restored Wurlitzer pedalboard; and the return to the original stoplist.
