Restoration

Using peer-reviewed techniques, the company uses methods that ensure re-restorability, some borrowed directly from the world of art conservation.

Organs are thoroughly documented prior to dismantlement and shipping to our specially equipped 10,000 square foot workshop in the South Loop district of Chicago. Upon arrival, subassemblies are dismantled and thoroughly cleaned. The restoration process includes replacement of perishable materials in the manner of the original, using materials of the highest quality. Components are reassembled and tested before return shipment and reinstallation.

As a means of defining work scope details and of informing methodology, JL Weiler, Inc. makes use of its extensive archive of engineering drawings, documents, and photos.
